    Im buying an M3 at some point next year and was wondering what the difference is between the Evo and non Evo and which is the best one to get?

    M3 Evo is 3.2 double Vanos 321 BHP with 6 speed gear box and a large case LSD

    M3 is 3.0 single Vanos 282 BHP with 5 speed gear box and a medium case LSD

    the 3.0 is the more reliable engine and the evos often don't make the power claimed. i would be looking at a 3.0.

    3.0 is the older and slower car but all e36's are old now so its condition rather than age that matters. the evo is faster but its expensive to maintain if you want to keep running costs down and you want longevity i would go 3.0.

    I have a 320i E36 at the moment and ive always liked that shape. It's not for an everyday car and I wouldn't mind getting one that needs a bit of work. Cheers for the advice anyway.
