I know it all depends if the seller is desperate or not, condition, mileage, history, spec etc.

I've seen the likes of a 2005 60k ish and went for £11.6k!
Ok this is the better deals I've seen

I have an ideal spec, but with tighter budget will need to compromise

Are the cars on Autotrader, pistonheads, eBay etc reflecting the real Market value and what people are buying and selling for?

On the opposite side where it confuses me is a 2006 at £19k!

Be interesting to see what others are paying currently

    Hi 530kam

I notice on your sprec you say "de-flapped" what does this mean. I have a 535D and am curious as to what issues i might get down the line.

It means he's removed the swirl flaps, a set of moving flaps in the inlet manifold that are installed as part of the emission control system. Early ones have a nasty reputation for letting go and destroying your engine. Especially on E46 diesels. Later ones are improved but there are still reports of them failing.

As to values, a lot depends on spec. BMW options were very expensive when new and this can be reflected in used values, the difference between a high spec car and a low spec one can be quite a lot and some of those options are really worth having. The E61 typically sells for a little more than the E60 and the 535D being the most desirable (and most expensive new bar the M5) of the bunch fetches quite a bit more than smaller engine models (even in the current climate). Autotrader prices are generally wishful thinking on the part of the seller, it's what they actually go for that's important.

I paid £21,000 for my late 2006 530d M Sport auto with all the toys from BMW dealer but then it only had 14,000 miles on clock.
