    Hi everyone,

I moved over to the UK from the US a few months ago, but couldn't bring my car so I gave it to my dad to use while I am here though it doesn't sound like he wants to give it back

I have an R50 MINI Cooper lightly modded for track events but still street legal (15 mins of fame): http://killboy.blogspot.com/2009/06/...ittle-16l.html

    Gets ~1.4G peak

Being close to so many tracks and missing driving a lot -> I am on the lookout for a fun track car (I live walking distance from work) and figured I can't go wrong with something like a well maintained 3-series or similar. Not after the biggest hp beast but something that won't need much work outside of standard maintenance (couldn't bring my tools either ) and will be a blast to drive.

So I will be prowling the For Sale side of the site rather often. I prefer buying from forum members because I feel like they care about keeping the car in good upkeep and I had plenty of OCD car care practice just keeping my white wheels white with organic street pads and track pads (both put absurd amounts of dust out). Things like cages and fixed back seats are a plus but not required. Comfortable street driving is last on the list of "things to check for"

The MINI forum in the US had some great support and help and I hope to learn a lot and start giving back in knowledge as soon as I can. My background is automotive engineering (I did the brakes and carbon fiber chassis on a couple race cars in the US). But most of all I can't wait to get to some track days and figure out shifting with my left hand
Mods: I have some. They make me :-) I am now broke :-(

Welcome to hell. And the forum!

God, you must be sick as a dog coming over here from a hot country and seeing the price of petrol! Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, one of the things I liked about the MINI was 17-23mpg on track... All the porches and gt-rs etc in the single digits were very jealous that I could do an entire event on ~1//2 tank when they were going through almost 2! (and petrol at the track ain't cheap)

Yet another reason to focus on suspension and weight reduction before going for high hp :P

Hi StK, yeah I lived in a few places in the US, some places with basically no winter and some with what felt like a 6 months of straight snowing :-/

Though I hear it snows less here... though I doubt there are many tracks open in the winter, might have to find a good indoor karting track nearby!
