    Hey all

Have been a bmw owner for nearly 10 years with current 51 plate, 530d sport, fantastic car, had the car for 4 years this year, prior to this cae, I used to change car every 6-12 months... But my beloved bm has gone wrong... I need some advice, please.

Coming home on the motorway, aircon was warm, so pulled at garage to have ice cream with the kids, sat in the car temp on car went high to red light on, temp guage went red, turned off engine to let it cool down for a bit, set off again, was ok at 70mph cruising, but put down accelerator little happening, going up hill speed was dropping, now really no power, pulled up.

    Called RAC, possibly Head Gasket...

Any ideas, other possible problem, water pump?

    Help greatly appreciated, glenn

    Hi and welcome Glenn

This thread is for intros and not technical questions....but if you have a quick skim of the posting rules in my signature and post a question in the right 5 series forum you will get the answers you need!!

My guess is the head gasket is at fault, but I would advise getting the fault codes read to identify if there are other problems

Thank you. I will check the water pressure. Seems that all water had gone, thanks

Def sounds like headgasket failure but don't rule out a problem with the waterpump either, best to check all the coolant parts at the same point to Make sure of no further problems.keep us posted
