hi all purchased myself a 2007 535d msport at the beginning of december. lets just say its not been a great start. when buying the car i noticed that the dpf was near due. after speaking with the dealer. he said he would replace the dpf so i went along and paid him a deposit for the car. a couple of days before i was due to pick the car car up the dealer called me said he didnt anticipate how costly the dpf's were ect ect and he would have to give me my deposit back as the car was fine with that dpf on. after speaking to a few mechanics who are good friends they said if you really want that car ask him if he is willing to remove the dpf and get it mapped out, he agreed and said he was happy to do that. so after a few days of having the car it started smoking, turns out the turbos had fail. we are unsure what caused it wether it was due to taking the dpf off or just they were on there way out. because of christmas i only got the car back from the dealer on the 4th of jan and after replacing the turbo's and various pipes ect it all seemed fine untill yesterday. there was a sudden loss in power and the car is making a really funny noise like a duck quacking in the engine. as the dealer is 150miles away i had a friend look at it and throw it on a diagnostics witch came up with no faults. so he had a look around the engine and niticed that the actuator breather pipes looked damaged from heat because of being put in the wrong place!!!. having said that the quacking noise is coming from the underneath of the manifold nowhere near the pipes. could anyone be able shed any light on the noise. my mechanic said although the outer of the pipes are damaged they all seem fine no splits ect. cheers

take it back to the dealer it should be under warranty...another note if you remove the DPF it will be an instant failure at MOT time and will invalidate your insurance aswell...

You sure he never just had the dpf removed and never got it mapped out? Either way I would take it back, get your money back or a full repair

he has taken it back and is repairing it. i was just asking to see if anyone had had this problem before. i didnt know that they would fail an mot as long as the emissions are within limits. he gave me a reciept from the place he had it mapped and when he had the turbo's done he took it again just to make sure they had done it right. thanks for the advice much appreciated
