    Hi,

    I'm Tom from Derbyshire

I am and always will be a massive VW fan and I've just finished off my latest project - a 1.9 TDi VW Corrado, here's a link to the build thread if you're interested, and a picture:

Anyway, you might be wondering why I'm here. My friend has just picked up a 2003 (53) 330D SE saloon, 150k for £3500. He let me have a drive and I'm totally and utterly smitten! The whole point of me building the Corrado TDi was to have a coupe with decent looks, but with diesel economy and half decent performance. Well I've built the Corrado now and it's time for something new, so I've got my heart set on a 330D Coupe

They're fairly big money at the moment (for me anyway), but I'm hoping to save enough that in a year or so I'll be able to afford to buy one. So, as a result I'll probably lurk here for a year and learn what I can about the E46 in anticipation of owning one (I'm pretty new to BMW's, although I have helped a mate do a 2.5 conversion on an E30 Touring).

Thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to reading plenty and hopefully absorbing some of it!

    Cheers
    Tom

Having owned a 16V, a G60 and a VR6 Corrado I also love them..............................but with a 1.9tdi? You've probably put a lot of work into it so I'm going to stay diplomatically silent.

    Car looks nice though

: I know what you're thinking...but in my defence I have owned a VR6 and I loved it, but having also got my own house I just couldn't afford to put fuel in the thing. So I did the decent thing, bought the lowest power Corrado they built (115bhp 2.0 8V), took it to a bare shell, fitted it with VR6 running gear (wide track, big brakes, 5 stud etc) which made it handle properly and then put a diesel lump in which will make big power and torque with a few tweaks. Might seem unconventional but I love it

Had a read of your Corrado project thread.... Well done mate, top marks.. I think that you will fit in here just fine - even if it is a "Sludger" that you built...

I had a few of those TDi engines many years ago in a couple of Passats - really impressive and the last one that I had managed over 300k before I sold it on and lost contact with her...

Older ones used to be the 1Z (just before they went to three letters like A**).
I've always wanted a Corrado, and did a passenger lap in a 2.0 on the Nurburgring a few years ago (in return for a crate of water - long story), that thing drove really well! I've had a few VW's though, Polo 6N 1.4 & 1.9D, Polo 9N 1.4, Mk1 Golf 1.5GLS, Mk2 Golf 1.6 Driver, Touareg 2.5TDI - and a couple of Audi's too! Mostly all well built cars The Touareg was the big disappointment though
I look forward to reading your build thread
