    Hi guys,

Ive just got my self a 328i manual convertible on a 1996.

It's got the standard bubbling rear arches and grille but overall not too bad at all for the money £1200

Its a 2 owner car and has all the option on it, such as climate control, parking sensors and electric everything like full auto roof.

It purrs beautifuly but its done a load of miles 159k to be precise.

I was just wondering how long it will likely last if its looked after properly???, i.e oil chages every 3k etc.

I live in Barcelona but have bought it in the Uk to bring back with me in september and want to do everything i can to make it as reliable as possible. Im very handy with a spanner and have always been into modifying old VW's so not afraid to attack it with a spanner if need be.

Welcome mate, nice motor you picked up. Should give you mucho miles if your handy with the spanners. Check out the " How many miles" thread page 2 on General disscution section

Also Rumpleforeskins thread on same page.

If its an M52 engine mate then yes but i wouldnt panic about as theres loads still going about running good. Theres loads on here if you search nikasil. If you go onto Realoem.com as well and type in the last 7 digits of your vin itll tell what type of engine you got.

    Hope this helps

    Wow BARGAIN!

Things I would do if they have not been done already.

    - Waterpump
    - Thermostat

Other than that, should be a beauty to drive.

Thanks tashi, i was thinking water pump, thermostat, viscous coupling, differential oil, brake fluid, PAS fluid, coolant change as well as a full service.

Is there anything else that would be worth while changing before a 2,000 mile trip to spain??

What you have mentioned is pretty much all I would decide to do. If the brakes seem to be holding and suspension is not affecting the ride, I would say you are good to go.

I just need to do my suspension and bushes now. :(
