    Well

Bought my first BMW at the weekend, 1999 328i M-Spec Convertible from my father

Two owners from new, never been wanting for parts 106k miles with a full bmw service history.

Im bowled over with her, a pleasure to drive and more importantly cruise in.

Have a couple of oddities that im hoping the forum will help with... More on those later

Pic for now, others when i can get photobucket to work!!!

Problem 1) The ASC seems to cut in at any speed over 60mph regardless of road surface

Problem 2) I believe it is the exhausts/catalytic converters but theres an inconsistent rattle from underneath the car - the engine/gearbox/clutch are fine

Anyone else have anything similar to the abovementioned problems?

(Hi my name is Ben )

    Yeah she's not bad!

Id not found a single E36 in shuch good nick!!

No rust ANYWHERE (and i mean it) with a pressurewash and a sponge the underside would look brand new!

The interior barely shows any wear for 106k miles and the engine is smooth quiet and powerful!

Considering the cars ive had previously are Jap cars (I must admit to being ashamedly the owner of a yellow honda civic )

She is just the bee's knees!

i am ben to and there will definitely be someone to help you with your problems on here. my mate had a asc problem and was told it could just be something simple like a sensor. However he hasn't hads it looked at so i cant confirm that would be a possiblity.

    Hi Ben,Welcome to Bimmerforums.co.uk...........

asc could be a sensor or could be the tyre sizes on the rear or somethig else entirely..If you post up your questions in the relevant sections with the correct thread titles someone will help you out

Will do chaps! thanks for the warm welcome, always a good sign on any forum!!!

I have a feeling my asc problem might be due to having a slow puncture! New tyre on tomorrow morning!

And have ordered a replacement centre section for the exhaust which should (hopefully) solve that horrible rattle from under the car!

Also need another wheel in a similar style, any takers with this?
