I'm a newbie here so be nice I've just bought an e36 328i sport (as you might have guessed from my username) and i love it, i had a 320i saloon 2 years ago so i'm not a complete bmw novice but i have come here in search of your tuning wisdom, so if anyone has any info that would be of use to me please point me in the right direction

Nice one Mark! Did you make sure you haven't got the Nikasil original lump? Most, if not all have been replaced with the Alusil block.

Hiya mate, Welcome to the forum, this really is the Best Beemer site on the web with some of the Best people you could hope to meet.
As for your question the quickest, easiest and most overlooked performance gain is to fit some new spark plugs in. Without a doubt go for the Bosch Super 4. Thats what i did and it really was a revelation!! The next thing i'd say is a cold air induction kit. I went with the K&N 57i option, cost me arond £75 off the web but it comes with all the bits you need for fitting and easy to follow instructions with photo's. (The pipercross kit is also quite highly recommended by a lot of guys on this forum)
But i cant emphasise enough the differance the Bosch Super plugs made, Thats where i'd start. (cost me just over £20 for a set of six off the web)
Anyway, goodluck mate with whatever you decide to do. Keep us informed.
