    Hi All

I have joined the forum for some helpful advice on the 5 series estate range - I am currently driving an Audi S3 09 plate and am looking for an estate to replace it with (due to two large dogs).
I'll post in the correct section regards my dilemma

    Tim

    Welcome to the forum Tim

Good luck with the search. If you're coming from an S3, I bet the 535d is a good one to go for

    Thanks Joe

It is certainly a better step than a 170 Passat (which was the original idea) - although I don't think the 535D (I've just picked up) will make up the difference as my S3 was mapped to 310-320bhp :(

    Hi 1Animal1,Welcome to Bimmerforums.co.uk............

You could get the 535D mapped too which would close the gap to your S3

I plan to get it mapped once i've sorted the iDrive issues, this will close the gap a little, sadly not fully :(

I 535d mapped properly should more than close the gap on your mapped s3 bud the torque would be awesome! And the power more than 310 easy :thumsup

    I think you need a go in a mapped 8P S3 matey

0-60 standard is 5.7 - i know thats not cast iron, but they do generally make the power they claim the TFSI engines. Mapped is an entirely different story, power to weight factored in.... a mapped 535D won't be as close as you think.

Maybe once rolling in the mid range perhaps....sprinting 1/4's you'd have no chance.

Just to add to the mix, ive had Audis, Mecs, Jags and a Lexus in the past. Nothing beats the drive of a Bimmer! There is somthing about driving a BMW you dont get with any of the aforementioned!

So far i'll have to disagree, although saying that the last car was a hatch, had quattro and was a lot newer.... I've always regarded the interior of bimmers boring. The reason i bought this car, i liked the exterior styling and it had a better engine than the Audi A6 I was looking at.... oh and i could fit my dogs in the back

    Expected difference of opinion
