    BillyT, Welcome to the forum

What model are you thinking of and what budget do you have in mind?

You could post a thread in the "General BMW Discussions" section

Welcome. Lol, at RYM. The M3 is an awesome car. However, I 'd also consider a E36 328 sport or a E46 330.

Hi & welcome, as £5K is a very reasonable budget.

The vehicles mentioned are very good, but with these you can be picky as there are so many for sale and there will be as many bad ones as there will be good ones.

Despite a 3 series is what you are after, if you are not bothered by size, may I suggest the likes of the 530i/540i as IMO, you amy well get a better quality of car with one of these for the same budget.
