Trust us all when we say you want them done sooner rather than later, and that you shouldn't grudge the cost of getting the flaps replaced with blanks.
    True dat.

Every single day I feel the enjoyment of that £155 through sheer peace of mind.

I was scared into it by all the forum threads detailing just how much damage an eaten flap can cause. Not doing it is just not worth the risk. - It's something the insurance won't cover, so it's a real killer.

Plus, I very much doubt a couple of hundred quid is much compared to the price of the car.

Aye, thats assuming you pay a garage to do it. For 6 blanks from PMW I think it would be £50-60, less from eBay, the rest would be garage labour. Its not actually a difficult job at all, I could do it in under an hour (not including intake manifold cleaning while its off etc), although if after viewing the step by step guide you're not comfortable with doing it yourself, I'd expect a garage to charge no more than 2 hours labour with them taking their time or figuring it out as they go because they haven't done it before etc.
