Hi all, looking to buy my first grown up car having previously driven mostly Jap performance cars. Due to the daily commute and the wife being pregnant, we're looking at a 320d ES touring. Behaving done a little research, I believe it to be an E90. Although the car we are looking to get is registered as a 58 plate, the Glass's guide says it is an 05-06 model and as such, worth less than £8k. Can anyone please have a little look at the ad for the car and give informed opinions please.

    Thanks.
    Matt.

the 320 touring, ku58 nya in your link is sold if you look on AC's main website!

Used BMW | BMW Used Cars | Used BMW Cars | Approved Used BMW | BMW Approved Used Cars[177]-5dr/2008-(58)/ref/arnbi-18499/

    it's a pre-facelift E91 (E90 is code for saloon). I don't know why it's deemed 2005/6 model.

Price seems reasonable. check a big site like autotrader to benchmark prices.

Yeah, it's sold to me as I should be collecting it tomorrow evening.
Glass's guide says it's a MY 2006, Availability May 2005-July 2006. Just wondered why it was registered over 2 years after it was available. Possibly old/unregistered stock?

A basic HPI check (i.e. free version) gives the year of manufacture for your car as 2008.

A basic Glass' guide gives 14k as dealer price, and car availability as 2007-2009. from my knowledge that's when your exact type of car was on sale, as the earlier E91s which came out 2005/06 had less bhp; 163 I think, as opposed to 177. The 2009 model which replaced yours was then the facelift version.

I have no idea why you were given info stating the 05/06 MY (model year from)

You can check the V5 / VIN plate for confirmtation of year of manufacture and/or call BMW.

Cheers guys. Seems the website and the iPhone app give conflicting information. I'll be sure to go over it all properly tomorrow before collecting.
Thanks again for explaining e numbers. A lot of sites just refer to e91 as e90 estate and the link on this forum explaining them doesn't appear to show anything useful, just ..........
Plan (as far as the wife knows) is to keep the car standard, but already the wheels look like they should only be used for winter tyres and a little too much chrome. Obviously as it's a black car the windows will need tinting as that may reduce interior temperatures in the summer.
Thanks again and enjoy today's lovely weather.

if changing wheels, you might want to consider a deal with tyres as a lot of E9x owners I hear hate the Run Flat Tyres on this generation of BMW (crapp ride, etc.) and prefer to get a good mid range performance tyre. I have an E46 and use Hanook Ventus V12 which I find excellent; another popular choice on this forum are Falken 452s

Yeah, will probably go to 18 inch rims, seems there are quite a few retailers on this forum as well, so choice, availability and advice should be readily available. The standard rims will just be used for winter and all the salt.

Picked the car up last night. Really nice and drives lovely. It is only the ES, so fairly low spec, but with a few tweaks to the styling and some bigger wheels, it should look really nice.
