it took me about 2 months of planning and sourcing the bits, then i used a day to put the lump in and the next day to do the wiring

im not a qualified mechanic, infact i am self taught but ive done it (all the work) excluding the exhaust and this is the result.......

    it makes me very proud
take no notice of the cheapy air filter guys lol, its just a temp messure to get me out and about, as my car is abs equiped i cannot fit the m50 airbox cos the abs unit is in the way, im going to buy an inclosed ram air kit for her....

    Thanx mate

As far as cost is concerned I coukdnt give you an exact figure without sitting down and doing some maths and adding up my book of reciepts from bmw lol.
Obv the cost can go up considertably if done properly, for example the manditory things like metal impellar water pump, 88 degree stat to help it run cooler ect ect.....

Just to give you an idea though I payed £280 for the engine-loom and ecu off a guy on e30zone.net out of his rearend smashed e34 so as a bonus the sump and pick up ect were already e30 friendly (saved a bit of cost right there), I didn't plan on using the m50 box or clutch setup so I did a deal with him! The engine is a corcker mate it really is, she's covered over 600miles in my car and not used a drop of oil or coolant!
The m42 box I payed £30 on the basis I traveled from cardiff to birmingham to pick up, different guy same forum (e30zone) and so on.... I can do some real maths on it if you wish.

The most expensive part of the whole thing was the exhaust system!! You cannot buy, as far as I could see, an exhaust for this conversion so she went to a local custom place for a full manifold back 2.5' system, £400 later and I'm very pleased, the downpipes are a work of art they really are!

I will be putting a build thread together as soon as I find a computor with a good conection. I will pm you when its complete, I have 60 odd pics of the build and a few of the guy making my exhaust if your interested

    Cheers- Ant
