Just thought I'd stop lurking and post something.

I got my 1995 E36 320i saloon back in July and I love everything about it.

I pretty much knew nothing at all about cars other than how to install a stereo and drive them but am gradually learning and plan to do my next oil change myself. I've had a few things fixed since I got it: the bushes on the front, rear shocks and springs, a service, and the rear wheel bearings were really bad so got them done. Planning on getting the water pump and viscous fan replaced soon on the advice of the mechanic and I'll prob do the T-stat at the same time.

I was able to remove the ugly towbar myself and have done real basic stuff like put in smoked indicators and changed the brake sensor after the bearings got so bad it came out and snapped off.

I have my NCT (Irish version of the MOT) this day next week so hopefully it'll pass and then I can get started on cosmetic stuff.
Once I know its all mechanically sound I'm going to learn about polishing and get rid of the swirl marks and recondition the leather interior.

Sorry about the long post-bottled up for months-and thanks for all the great advice-seems theres an answer to any question I ever have just by searching this goldmine of a site!

    Great first post mate

We always appreciate photos of the work that's being carried out too

    http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...ures-or-t2682/

Please don't feel reserved about posting. I guarantee that someone else on the forum will be thinking "i'm glad he posted that as that is the same fault I am getting"

This is a very friendly forum We don't behave in the same way that others do.

This is one saying that I believe in " the most stupid question are normally the most relevant"

    Don't be shy... we're not

Look forward to seeing pics of your work and hearing more from you very soon

Hi and thanks for the reply. Yeah I got that about this forum: good and friendly!
I had this pic on the PC. I really hope it isnt huge or anything...
It was taken just after I got the car so it looks a bit different already with the new indicators. I also took a permenent marker to the mesh in the bumper and got it nice and black again.
Just started now but I plan just to make it shine again and leave it pretty close to OEM for the moment but that might change.
