Hello. I currently own a VW Corrado G60. I have been into the VW scene for around ten years, however I am looking for a change of scenery. I have always had a love for E36's and am seriously considering buying a 328 sports coupe.

What sort of real life performance do these cars offer? Im thinking it will be a similar performer to my corrado (which is around 190 bhp). Ive never driven one before, however I do drive my sister's E90 320si occasionally and cant fault it really, but havent got as much money as her, lol.

Im thinking of spending 3k, which by looking on Pistonheads etc, looks like it should buy me a decent example......does this sound right?

Also, Ive read your buying guide, but wondered about any tips on the engines....I keep hearing about Nikisil???

Anyway, many thanks for any info that is provided

Hello and welcome to the forum, it's good to have you with us.

Good luck with your search, for your budget I would think that you should get a really good example...

Use the forum search facility for Nikasil issues, their is plenty of information on here about it

Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies.

What do you guys think of this example. Its not too far from me, as most of them seem to be all down South

Although it is an auto and I would prefer a manual

welcome fella iv also had good few old dubs (mk1caddy tdi, mk2 polo, load of T4s) but loving my little compact i bought nearly a year ago which im dropping 328 lump in
that 328 looks mint and good to see original, Iv seen them converted to manuals on here?? but for that money there should be quite a few around for you? Or iv seen load of M3s come up for under 3grand?? that be my option

I would like an M3, but im thinkin that a one of these woulds be a good introduction into E36 ownership. Converting it to manual is somethin id be capable of doin, but would seem a shame to mess with such a tidy example, but is somethin i had considered.

Ive spoke to the bloke today and it's SORN'd at the moment, so need go have a look and see whats what with it and have a look around it.

Thanks for the warm welcome and info guys.....i'll keep you posted

Just to let you guys know that ive put a deposit on it. Took it for a good test drive and Im really surprised at how quick it feels. I was worried it may feel a little lazy compared to my Corrado, but it really doesnt. It pulls well and everything works on it and he's putting 12months MOT on it.

So i'll now be a regular on here.
