Not new to car forums but new to BMWs.
For the last 4 years my wife has run a Lotus Turbo Esprit as her 'daily driver'. recently she announced that she had 'scratched that itch' (I blame James Bond).
In our marriage we have a fair division of labour, I fix the exotic cars she drives them. So being a fan of 'wedges' she is looking at an 840 or 850.
What advice and guidance can you give? I am reasonably proficient at twirling spanners ( I raced Alfasuds in the late 80s and built a Caterham Seven) I'm pretty fearless (especially when aided by the ''gospel according to Haynes'') when it comes to tackling jobs on cars.
I suppose my main question is: is an 8 series feasible for home maintenance and servicing? Many special tools required? Is there a service/workshop manual?
In buying one, what should we look out for? - Any particularly expensive parts that wear /need replacing regularly?
Thats all to be going on with.
Hope you are all as friendly as the nutters over on the Lotus Forums.
