Hello, Mark here, currently own a 2.8 V6 Golf. Love it. But in 18 months we are looking again.

Originaly wanted an R32, but after looking at the facts and figures of the 135i i think thats what i want now.

Not really bothaerd about colour as long as its got leather and xenons, cant really imagin anybody buying one without these so i should be ok.

Anyway, first off what tyres are best to replace the Runflats? im not keen on these and i cant find many 245/35/18. Has anybody gone to 245/40?.

Also as far as i can see the 135i only comes in M-Sport, dont mind this at all but whats the difference in that trim and the BMW Performance parts?

It shows such things as the six pot brakes and carbon strut braces and better shocks, but does the Msport pack not have better shocks? a strut brace and 6 pots?

Would supersprint not be a better after market system?

I ask as i am very new to BMW, in fact i have never had one

    Any help would be great

To be honest, IMO, despite being a BMW fan, the 1 series is a poor value for money car and you'd be better off with a R32 Golf, (VW have just launched the R36 Passat, are they introducing the R36 in the Golf soon?).

The 135i is FAST. However, my personal opinion is that its really only adequate for accomodating 2 people, anything else and the whole car becomes impractical and nonsense.

The M sport models, in BMW tradition have sport body styling, sports seats and an LSD as part of the M sport package. As for the suspension, I'm not 100% sure. I think now such top models will have the same shocks and springs fitted but without the LSD which is added to the sport models.

As for equipment levels, check the vehicle's options as nearly everything on a BMW is a cost option, so beware of varied specifications from car to car.

I'll check up on the tyres, we have done loads of 3 series and 5 series. The trend seems ot be to opt for the same size, stick to premium brand tyres but go for extra load/reinforced sidewall options.

    Thanks.

But i wont be buying new, and as the climate is good for used gass busting cars im sticking with the 1.

I have no family to move about, and like i said as long as its got xenons and leather thats all im after + the 305 Bhp and 300flbs of the torque

seen ones of the spec im after for about 25k and thats an 08 model, so in 18 months maybe 17-18K?

thats about the same as an R32 golf with the same options that im after and the benifit of a true 55Bhp advantage over the equal weight golf that comes in at 1510Kg, and some tests have come bach at 330 Bhp so i here?

No the R36 aint comming to the golf, in FACT the R is coming to an end instead there doing a GTI-R which will run the 2ltr TFSI engine that is found in the S3 running 265 Bhp, but maybe just in Front wheel drive.

Like the sound of the 3 ltr BMW engine really running really low psi turbo's, you get the 6 cylinder sound and the turbo shove and i would think a very good long term engine, as well as cool things like the 6 pot fronts and 4 pot rears that i think the R should of had really

thanks, cant wait really cant. 300 Bp 300Flbs and still a remap to go and 0-60 5.4 cant be right.

Both E39 5.1 and E60 4.8 are within reach from the factory let alone after a remap, Supersprint and GruppeM intake.

with big powered cars, its not the 0-60 that matters, its the 0-100+mph, and the acceleration either in gear or at full chat when you are already wafting along.

Ima Mod nut, and when i get the motor i really want a Full supersprint system well if it dont cost the 3.2K of the R32 Mk5 system.

I was also looking at these:

    http://www.ca-automotive.co.uk/varia...9MTgyOA==.html

Its for the 335i but fits the 1, but a £1240 i think i will be ripped for sure, looks no different to me anyway, than the standard 335 Intake, just made out of kevlar and a K&N in the middle, im sure a drop in filter will have the same effect, am i right?

No. A drop in filter wont have the same effect..
In fact, a drop in filter (eg K and N) compared to BMWs OEM filters have shown marginal to zero improvement in tests done in Performance BMW magazine.

That carbon intake will add a lovely induction roar and a few ponies...If combined with a remap, it will unleash even more horses..

But, the gains are not always worth the ££
