Hello and welcome to the forum, it's good to have you on board and remember, it may only be a 1.6 but at least it's frugal on the fuel

    Welcome to the site mate
Insurance is a pain being young but once you reach 21 and get a year's NCB is does drop.

How much is your insurance on your 316? A couple of years ago when I was 19 I had a 318i E36 and insurance was about £1700 (third-party) and that was the cheapest I could find at the time.

hey m8 i am 18 and have just got insured provisionally on a 318ti compact for £870- 3rd party f and theft wen i pass this will go up to 1900 with pass plus this is with quinn-direct. i reckon its worth every penny- i would have gone for the 316 but i needed an auto so wanted the power to overcome the box. my brother is 19 and has an e36 325i and it costs him less on insurance than his pug 306 1.4 did in his first year i think its around 800 fo him 3rd party f and theft. hes with egg

haha same here, got my e36 316i compact when i was 19. £1600 insurance fully comp!
it does pack a nice punch! once you hit 70, it can go higher quite quick! some nice torque there!
give it a couple of years and i'll upgrade to a newer model me thinks. should have a decent ncb!
once you go BM, can you go back? i doubt i will
