Hi, having registered last week I thought it was time to introduce myself.

My current car is a black e46 330d touring, 05 reg with 91k on the clock. It had done 87k when I bought it last October.

I've had to do some work on it , but can't complain as it was really cheap and they were all planned items to bring the car up to top notch condition. So far, new starter motor, tyres, brakes, inspection 2 & Dension link for ipod, oh and yesterday I fitted a new inlet manifold and breather just to be on the safe side!

I guess it sound like I'm throwing a lot of money at it, but the trith is I do most of the work myself and figure it's worth it as I'm planning to keep it for a considerable time.

It runs like a dream and is quite economincal, I drive like a wuss!

Looking forward to learning & sharing my ownership experiences with you.

    Cheers

    Mart.

I haven't looked to closely at the old manifold yet, I'm going to clean it up then remove and blank the flaps and save it for future use, the egr valve was quite crusty but cleaned up without too much effort.

Well, in the good old days (6k service intervals) I'd have gone along with 'if it aint broke dont fix it'. I'm old fashioned, and so's my dad (a retired proper mechanic) so I don't beleive in these new 18k service intervals, regardless of advances in oli technology, also there is so much not attended to in manufacturers service schedules,(horror stories with my wifes Merc!). Whilst i'm dissapointed that BMW should let an ancillary item become such a problem I've likened the manifold swap much to changing the cambelt on a lesser machine.
Pictures to follow when I can take a decent one. I could go on for ages , really I'm just killig time so I can Join the night shift!
