    Hi everyone,

Thought I'd say hello as I'm sure I'll be using the forum a fair bit.

I have an Imola Red 2002 E46 Compact 325 (my first BMW) which at the moment has E90 216-style wheels fitted and thanks to the new 100 mile daily commute is needing some tlc and parts!

I replaced the coolant expansion tank at the weekend and have several other common weaknesses to fix too so will be searching for how to's...

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Nice!

They are notorious for leaking when they are old. Mine still had the original which isn't too bad! From reading around, they seem to either have hairline cracks and leak slowly, explode like a steam bomb or leak through the seam where the top and bottom sections are bonded (this happened to mine).

Before it got bad, I had the coolant light coming on for a few minutes then off and it was using a small amount of coolant every few months. Then it got worse and started to get hot so I found the leak and replaced the tank with a new one, there are a few guides around for it. My first time doing any DIY on a coolant system and worked a treat!
