I was thinking of buying the 540i myself. I sold my 528i and have been missing the petrol power. the 525tds didn't do it for me! I remapped my brother's 525d (e39) last, and that made it sound a 530d. However, it is the power that I am after! Maybe a silly question, but how is your 540 on economy? I am asking because I do about 400 miles a week on the motorway. Anything around 35mpg would be good for me!

Its round town you suffer imo.... i went from Swindon to Heathrow the other day and i was just sat at over 80 for a good 95% of the journey and my return was 31mpg which for a 4.4 v8 i didn`t think was bad but round town i play alot in sport and manual so dont really look at the fuel figures (heart attack time if i did) ...... want the fun so pay the price is my advise no good having a v8 and crying over the fuel..... try one i`m more than impressed with the power and want to get a bit more out of it but got to put all the dumb stupid things right first so i know i have a good start to mod it a bit could be scary !!! but fun
