Hi, I've been looking for a manual 330/320 e46. But the best deal I was offered as part ex was on a low mileage decent nic auto 330 from a local dealer.

Not so sure if I've made the right decision, should I have held out for a manual?

None the less I can at least now say I'm a proud bimmer owner

Could be the best buy you have made mate. 330D or 330i? Anyway with bigger engines manual gearbox i WOULD not recomend it. 4 pot on the other hand manual is better.
    My BMW history= E36 318IS, 323I,Mini Cooper, E46 320 D SE and now E39 530D. awesome

    hello
manual or auto, well it all depends how you like to be in control.
the auto uses more fuel too.
i have a 330ci manual and i wouldn't want an auto, it feels so much more alive if you change the gears, plus it's lighter and more fuel economy.
if it was a 330d i'd not mind an auto as much, not exactly a reving machine so no need to snap between gears as torque is pretty much there all the time, plus the diesel economy makes up for auto box draining the power.

in summary i think it is a mistake, but they sold like that in the first place to make them a nicer sit back and relax driver.

Yeh my fuel consumption is terrible at the moment...only 15.5mpg and I'm not even putting my foot down. Something I'm trying to look into

a remap will free up some power and bring a little more economy, but an auto petrol will never be economical, i had a vectra 1.8 auto and that was lucky to get more than 30mpg, let alone a 3.0 straight six auto.

Does it have "tiptronic" like mine,I don't use mine much but is it maybe a little more fuel efficient than full auto??
