Evening all, thought I'd say hello as I've just bought my 1st BMW after 21 years of car ownership.

I decided that my Impreza, Gti, hot hatch, XR, RS, GTE days are behind me and it was time to turn from a boy to a man and buy a BMW. I've always had a nice 2nd car on the drive as I use an Astra estate for work (tv aerial and satellite installer). I've been to the Nurburgring a few times and plan to go again next year plus enjoy attending events like Ten of the Best, Trax etc. I like my cars to be mint, well maintained and clean.

    Today I purchased a 2001 E46 330d M Sport Saloon. When I say purchased, I feel like I stole it!

    Titan Silver
    138k on the clock
Mot til Feb, Tax til December
    Black Leather + carbon interior
M Sport steering wheel, gear knob, sill plates
    Business CD
    Parking sensors
Nearly new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres all round

FSH including some BMW history, every mot, 4 keys

A couple of negative points are the propshaft donuts need replacing (clunk from rear when changing gear), 1 pulley is squeeking a little and needs investigating, tiny rust spot on drivers side rear arch near the sill and the ashtray/glasses cubby hole are scuffed and need replacing (if anyone has one let me know!). I'm also finding it hard to get into reverse? common problem?

I paid £2300 for it, and I think thats a bargain. Heres some pics, I'll post up some more tomorrow when I've given it a full detailing (weather permitting)

Future plans for it will be to pick your brains about mods and remap, possible suspension upgrades, fit a short shifter and the usual maintenance. If anyone can recommend pre-map mods, what to buy and where plus a recommended mapper please let me know. I've heard R-Tech in Hinkley, Leicestershire are good and I have a friend who's looking to get his Mondeo TDCI mapped too so we'd like to get em both done together.

Catch up with you all later

Hey Hamster, nice motor! I'm pretty new here too and I just got myself a 330d, pretty much identical to yours apart from mine being an auto.

Hope your enjoying it as much as I am

Evening mate, i've only done 60 miles in mine so far but I love it and wish i'd got one sooner. I'm also looking forward to getting more from the car and making it mint.

Only let down I can see is the stereo. Even tho its the business cd with changer it doesnt exactly perform. My mates standard mondeo stereo is far better. I'll be looking to proberbly add a parrot kit or change the headunit, although it looks like i'm a bit limited with options as its the slim one rather than the one with dvd screen.

Have a chat with MotechMike about a remap. He is Northampton based and a vendor on here. Good experiences.

Few vendors on here and all recommended, and of course BMW experienced.

Thanks Mark, i'll have a proper look around once I've sorted a few niggles on the car and done the egr delete, filter and de-cat.

I need to find the donut thingy that goes where the gearbox meets the propshaft (part number 1229 754) but they seem a bit hard to find. Only one I've found is on ebay for £60, but theres only 1 listed which seems odd to me.

Anyone know where I can get hold of one, apart from the stealers?
