Planning to make good use of the forum in the coming months so I thought I would start with a quick introduction!
I purchased my first BMW, a 1999 V reg 318is coupe in the mid 2000's and loved it dearly, it was an amazing example at the time and in the quite rare Sierra Red (I think that was the name), kind of a terracotta colour! Sadly I needed a change so moved on to a 2002 E46 318i Estate, great car, but not a patch on the coupe!
Having wanted to pick up another coupe for the last couple of years I finally made the move a couple of weeks ago and purchased a 1999 T reg 318is in Avus Blue, it's a very genuine example with just over 100,000 on the clock.
The plan is to use the car as a weekend treat, I have every intention to return it to showroom condition, but do plan to carry out a few tweaks along the way! The car comes with the half leather interior, it's in very good condition but already I'm on the look out for a set of rear leather headrests, I feel these really compliment the interior look and from what I read, the car is pretty much ready to receive them following just a couple of minor mods. Also planned is a genuine M3 front lip and I absolutely have to sort out the misted up headlights, I believe this is as simple as removing the rear covers?! Also in my mind is the addition of a genuine parking sensor kit, again I've already started looking into this, I think the difficult things to source will be the wiring looms as the control unit and sensors seem readily available!
Being on the Isle of Man, finding spares is a little more tricky than popping to the local specialist BMW breaker, so eBay will be used for the majority of sourcing!
So there's a bit of an intro! Look forward to chatting to some of you and if anybody is able to help with any of the above mentioned planned mods give me a shout!
