This is my first post. I bought a 2002 316i SE Saloon a couple of weeks ago and have been driving around with a massive grin ever since Really smart looking car, which drives beautifully. I bought it from a friend for just £3.5k (39,500 miles on the clock) which seems like a great bargain.
I'd welcome your advice on a couple of things about the car. Firstly, the mpg seems to be rediculously low - currently about 21 mpg. To be fair i've only being doing in town driving but even still I would expect something better than I'm getting. Does that sound right? Any tips on what may help?
Secondly, I've been a bit disappointed with the car's power. I realise that there's a fair amount of car to shift but with a 1.9lr petrol engine I'd expect it to be a bit nippier than it feels. I quite often have the accelarator flat to the floor in lower gears without it exactly shooting away. Anyone got any similar experiences or advice to offer? Do you think the engine might need tweaked at all or is the only solution to buy a bigger engine size next time?!
Look forward to hearing from you experienced BMWers!
