    Hello.
Got myself a '97 318i touring the other day.
Nice and cheap, but with a reason. The head gasket has gone, pushing gas into the cooling system.
Had a look yesterday, and quite pleased with how much room there is to work in.
Thank goodness for engine bays that are designed to take big engines

Limited budget, so as much as I would like to put a 2.8 in there, it is not practical (at the minute)

Anyway. It is black, with only one small area of damage on the passenger wing. Looks like they caught it reversing. only bent a little with not much paint damage.

So far I havn't found any rust anywhere, and everything seems to work. paintwork is excellent, only a couple of scratches, and not deep ones at that.

Overall very happy with it. Just looking forward to getting it on the road soon. My current Honda Prelude is WAY too small for the family and a dog now :(

Pics will follow in the next few days.

    Bit of an update.
Engine fixed, but seems to be using a little bit of water still.
    Needed:
    Head Gasket
Thermostat (had been removed at some point :/ )
    Cooling fan (few blades missing)
    Top engine coolant pipe connector.
Water pump (had disintegrated, the cause of all the problems)
Few nuts and bolts and a helicoil kit
Oil and filter. Few other random bits.
Took 2 of us just under 5 hours to do it all, with only the internet to guide us, lol.

Now I am planning what else to do to it. I feel a murdering in the air. Black it all out as much as I legally can hehe.
