    Hi All,

Ok so after years of Golfs and Audi's I've finally taken the step up to a proper car ( so my dad says) and got a BMW. it's a 318i SE, although it probably says that somewhere anyway.
I know that forums like this are great and I'm friends with several people that I've met of others cos everyone is so helpful.
So I'm looking forward to picking peoples brains about the best way to do things and about how to look after my car best. Of course there's always the possibility of a modification or 2 along the way.

But my first question is how do I find out whether my car is an E36 or an E46 and whats the big difference ( if this is already covered elsewhere, just a nudge in the right direction would be great!)

    Cheers

check wikipedia, it basically goes on years, so every few years they release a new model, mine is 96 wich is an e36, i used to have a 90 wich is e30, its confusing tho as i have a 95 520 wich is e34, you would think they would use a new letter for the different series but no they had to be awkward.

    Hi and welcome Matt

The difference between E36 and E46 is quite big in looks and chassis and unfortunately BMW made both in 1999 so I would need a picture of your car to tell you!!

    Can you upload one?

Point noted Boostist.... I think he has an E46 since it is a 99 saloon.
