Finally got my hands on an E46 M3 which, in my opinion, is a legend of a car. The first time I laid eyes on one (and got to ride in one) was in the early 2000's and I instantly fell in love. I knew that one day it would be mine... and that day has finally come!

However, owning the car of my dreams has awakened a forgotten feeling in me that makes me want to learn everything about it and give it the care, attention and mods that it truly deserves.

As such, I'm looking forward to discovering everything I can about what to do and what not to do from the people on this forum who clearly have the knowledge and advice that a n00b like me so sorely needs.

I have some ideas in mind for things like exhaust upgrades etc but I'll be lurking until I've found my feet and have something worthwhile to ask/post about. Basic research has been intimidating so far due to the sheer volume of modding sites and differing opinions on kits etc but I'm content to take my time.

Anyway, I'm enjoying browsing these forums as they seem to be the most comprehensive ones I've come across so far.
I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Here are the specs of my baby for anyone curious:
2005 E46 M3, 38k miles, SMG, Carbon Black (sexy) and 3 previous owners who have obviously loved it as the service history is glowing and the interior is immaculate.
Still getting used to the beast as I've never driven anything with this kind of power before but I'm loving every minute of it. I'm still finding excuses to take ridiculously long diversions just to go to a local shop. Walk 5 minutes or drive around for half an hour? I've found that in an M3 the choice is clear.

    Cheers!
No pics just yet, tried to take some the other day but the underground garage I park in is just too dingy for my crappy cameraphone flash.

Will take some proper pics with my proper camera this week

    Welcome mate.

You might have chosen a dodgy gearbox, but you've certainly chosen the bestesteverintheworld colour

I'm also a newbie on here.....got to say, as you read through some of the questions and answers, you will see there is a lot of us without a clue, but there is a lot of them out there who know their sh1t and will help you out.

Late reply but pics tomorrow hopefully. She needs a bit of a wash so weather permitting etc.

I've noticed over the last few years that the SMG box is debated. A friend of mine thinks things should either be auto or manual and that's that. Normally I'd agree, but having spent some time with the SMG I've got to say I've really fallen for it.
It's wierd to get used to but, once you do, it's a lot of fun. Maybe the novelty is still fresh and maybe I'll change my mind once I'm hit with a repair bill (god forbid, but it's probably inevitable), but for now I'm really loving it.
