My previous fiat car was recently classed as a cat c total loss after some one ran in to me on a roundabout, so Ive been insurance money shopping.
I initial bid on a jaguar s typre from an ebay only dealer but when i got there the rear interior was ruined and the car stunk of wet dog... so I was offered this:
2002 325ti SE compact with 82k mileage, full leather but no service history and only 1 key (fob not working). some minor scratches/scuffs on bumpers and alloys could be better, rear wiper motor seized, driver seat clip missing... but drove smooth as, on the 100mile journey home...
The previous ebay auction winner had it at £1900 but didnt turn up, so after some negotiations i got it for............... £1300
Had it checked out free with halfords 15 point check expecting them to say brake pads needed as the brake pad sensor is also one (along with the airbag light - which im guessing is the occupancy sensor fault) etc
but he looked at them all and said all brake pads look as new, and must be a faulty detector sensor somewhere.
Obv didnt do any further work on it as that would be chargeable. all Filters look fine, doesnt need a service for another 6k miles, and suspension is fine too.
Very honest and upfront about it all, so quite happy overall now - but will prob go to rsj for service when due (if i can risk their apparently legendary customer service )
Ive been reading a few of the "how to" guides and removed the stereo cassette (which wasnt working) to find it not even wired in, so I guess the previous owner just literally stuck it back in after removing their after market, and cut out, their amp in the boot, as ive got some taped off wires in the back of there too (and no cd changer - did it have one ?)
Does any one know the part number for a seat clip ? ive tried a few breakers without success and think it may be 52107064870 but im not sure if thats right for my model ?
Ive got a few other questions over the car too like the microphone I can see, but no phone connections and the 3.5 audio cable i can see coming out of the back of the stereo loom, but may post them in each sub section.
i spent yesterday cleaning, claying and detailing it (along with removing what looked like a mouse nest from the engine bay) so will get some after photos up soon
