I am new to the forum and just joined to seek any helpful suggestion/ information for fixing my car.
I have a 525 SE petrol (new type 04 reg) which gives engine management alarm. The sympton is like:
On motorway when speed is high and specially when rpm is above 3000, there comes engine alarm and engine stops automatically, i.e. grinds to halt. Error message on display shows "engine under overload condition, drive carefully". You give 5 minutes and you can restart the car, but then it moves very slowly and then stops again. You cool it for say 20 minutes and then it drives smoothly.
With above symptoms, I showed it to local independent BMW expert, who first diagnosed problem with thermostat. When I got that replaced and serviced, then now they say air sensor needs a replacement and then we will check for further problem. I am happy to get it replaced, but they dont say that for sure this is the problem!
Have you come across such problem, can you suggest what could be the problem or if this is a general problem.. Surprisingly driving locally (say under 50 mph) there is no problem.
