After a 20 year gap I am back behind a BMW wheel. My first impressions are great, although not so sure about the bounce (or lack of) characteristics of the Run Flats.
I loved my 1974 2002, the agility, the feeling you get from the wheel, the smoothness of the engine when you put her under some load. But I hated the ergonomics (the lack of), the wind noise from the A pillars, the wind coming in through the frameless windows (it used to get REALLY cold in the winter).
I have only just done about 100 miles in the 330 and loving it. OK, I am 20 years older and probably not pushing as I was in my 20s, but the girl has all the power to chirrup the rears in second (DTC off) and this time the ergonomics seem to be perfect. As I said, not so sure about the RFT's and I have seen some threads here which I will look into in about 10k miles. But also does anyone find the steering a tiny bit dead near straight ahead or is it me getting old and loosing my feel?
I have a possible fault which I will also post separately but for interest; I have brimmed her yesterday and there is a very strong fuel smell in the car. Is this something anyone else has noticed?
I will soon have the plate on her T6LGA, give us a wave if you see her coming! Hope to get to meet a few of you soon.
