I'm a brand new bimmer member and have found this site very helpful - so far! Have just bought my first BM from my Dad and am very pleased with it. It's a 2003 E46 320D Touring and is our first ever 'posh' car having only had Fiats and Alfas!
Using the excellent advice on here I removed the swirlvalves last week and fitted the oil separator for the turbo and all is good and purring along (one of the valves was indeed loose). In doing these jobs I've located the pollen filter and air filter which I'll replace when due. However I could not see the location of the fuel filter. Could some helpful person enlighten me?
Additionally, can the oil and oil filter be replaced without removing the under-trays?
Is the consensus of opinion to use BMW oil and fuel filters as I was thinking of using quality items from GSF motorfactors? Is this false economy?
The hand-book talks of BMW spec oil LL04 - I take it Castrol Edge 5W-40 is the stuff to use?
Thanks in anticipation
