I'm in need of some serious help. I've just brought a 2001 318i m43 engine with the head gasket gone. I've spent the last 2 days doing the head gasket. I had it skimmed, was meticulous in detail and I'm sure I've done everything right. Except I've just started it up and its not running on cylinder no.3 and it's chucking out white smoke!
Does this mean I have a cracked cylinder head?
I've done a few tests, it seems to be sparking ok. I've left the plug in front of the plug hole and there's flash's of blue, which would indicate that there's fuel getting through. So the only option left is that there is water getting into the cylinder. However the plug seems dry when I take it out.
I'm very confused!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
