    whats wrong with my 318i its knocking when warm and ive found metal fillings in the oil HELP

    Could be a number of things but sounds like the bottom end end has gone and what you have found is bits of bearing shell, have you taken the oil filter out and had a good look.

    Does it knock when you rev it? look at this



    If it is you may as well scrap it, the cost of repair is considerable unless you can do it yourself

    thats just how it sounds ,the oil filter is full of small bits of metal , thanks for the advice jonny
