    Hi,
I am new to forum, at least posting. Need some help please.
My E36 328 cab, has 130.000 on the clock, had it for 1 year, never had any starting problems till a couple of days ago. Until then it has always started with e first turn of the key. Now it takes several attempts, loads of pops, farts, and clatters. When it does start, it kicks over over fairly well. Tap the throttle, very unresponsive. Drive it, down on power.
    Have changed plugs.
Disconnected MAF about four times, only affected the engine once, so guessed it may have intermittent failure. Stripped it down to clean, but separated wrong bit (electronics ). Have just ordered new one from EBAY.
Anyone had similar issues - root cause?

hope you got a genuine one as the cheap ones dont always work or dont work for long
what you need to do is get it plugged in to a diagnostic reader as it sounds like a crank or cam sensor playing up

Had fault code read. Several problems came up as expected. All faults cleared except the Crankshaft sensor. Inspection on ramp found a slight coolant leak from the Thermostat housing, directly onto the sensor.
