Not strictly true as its a replica.

Just thought i would say hi guys as im new to the forum. I came into BMW ownership a few months ago, my everyday car is a Nissan Skyline R32 GTR but i wanted something to go sideways in and after contemplating going down the Jap route i decided on a NA BMW.

MY brother in law had a B3 Replica sitting in his front garden for three years doing nothing so i took it off his hands. After sorting a few niggles out i took it to Santa Pod for its first drift day, unfortunately the car didnt complete the day as it was overheating badly. I had the same issue the second time out and decided to sort the heating out once and for all.

The car is actually an E36 325i with full cream leather, alpina rims and bodykit and a cool plate B3 CPE (B3 Coupe).

As i say im new to the forum so not sure how a drift car would be received. Im just here to join the community and hopefully take any advice given.

Heres a couple of pics of the car at Santa Pod :-

    Uh Oh

So that was all done after the second drift day. I put in an air con rad, changed the thermostat housing which was cracked, changed the water pump to a steel impellered item and fitted an electric fan infront of the rad. I decided to keep the viscous fan as the car gets driven on the road and i dont want an electric fan constantly blowing.

As i was running the car on 17 inch Alpinas it was sitting pretty high so i kept on munching cones. To stop this happening we built some radiator protection: -

I also polybushed the whole car and added some rack spacers to get some extra lock

I ran it like this for a while and then thought i'd got a bit crazy so the interior was stripped and in its place came 2 Cobra Monaco Pro Seats followed by TRS harnesses.

I then put on some coilovers and added E36 M3 Top Mounts on the front running them reversed to improve castor and E46 M3 Top Mounts on the rear along with Z3 re-inforcement plates.

After a couple more drift days i started to get quite a heavy knocking noise from the rear, we thought it may have been subframe bushes turns out the subframe chassis was ripped so i added M3 plates here as well.

The engine in standard bar an air filter and the exhasut has had baffle removed along with a box removed and sounds mental.

Thanks guys, heres a few pics from recent drift days

The difference the suspension mods made were immense. Hardly any body roll now and running on the 15's is much better

The car is running great now apart from a rough idle which we cant figure out. It'll idle at 1500 on start up then drop to between 500-800 and just fluctuate, any ideas as to what that could be. When i come off throttle its almost as high as 2000 and then slowly comes down to 1500. I also get a slight jerk at 1500 if im in traffic.

I'm also thinking about changing the clutch and losing the dual mass flywheel what clutch recommendations are there?
