Thanks for the comments the MOT didnt go well... in fact didnt go at all! The MOT tester took one look at the wheels and said he wasn't even going to waste his time, as they poke out too much. I was sure the MOT regs stated it was the tread that wasn't to protude more than 10mm from the arches, but he was adament that no part of the wheels should stick out more than 10mm... i decided not to argue and just get them changed over and Ive booked it back in for tomorrow, so another 24 hours of worrying!

Very nice and good luck with the project. Those wheels are really beefy but the police may have something to say due to them looking like they protrude outside of the wheel arch?

Thanks all yeah i havent had any trouble from the police yet, I drive pretty casually so dont really attract much attention, well I like to think so anyway! But I did read up a bit before fitting them, because they are pretty borderline in terms of the law, but they are just legal, from what I read your tread is allowed to protrude 10mm max, and although my actual wheels are protuding nearly 2 inches the actual tread is within 10mm, although obviously fine details wont save me if the police man is in a bad mood that day! lol

Just read your previous thread, that is a shame that you have had the arches widened and they still dont fit. Is there not an arch kit you can buy so you can keep them?

Theres no arch kit I would consider having put onto the car as I am trying to keep an OEM style, but my gripe was that the law states that it is the tread of the tires that must not protude more than 10mm from the bodywork, and although the wheels certainly protrude considerably more than that, due to the stretch of the tires, the actual edge of the tread is only out of the arches by maybe 3mm max, therefore making the wheels perfectly legal, however the MOT tester, clearly mistook this legislation to be referring to the actual wheel rather than the tread, which is what he has based his opinion on. It isnt any big deal for me to be honest because when I am putting the contours back on after the MOT it will the perfect opportunity to get the new Eibach suspension on thats been waiting in the garage for such an opportunity!
