    Hi,
I don't currently own a BMW, but am thinking of buying a new 118dSE sometime next year. I have quite a few questions in my mind about purchasing/owning/trading in a BMW and I hope fellow forum members can give me the benefit of their experiences so that I can make a better informed decision about my purchase.
    Best regards to all.
    James Westhead

Welcome mate - wouldnt go for the 118d but thats only a personal choice.

Like said above, LOTS of clever people here with LOTS of experience that can help with almost anything - not only BMW related things!

    Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the site. Don't be worried about others personal tastes on here, there are a few who slate the 1 series, some with experiance but many without.

There is a load of stuff in the 1 series section and everyone will be happy to give an opinion even if it isn't helpfull.

However you never know what may happen so by the time 2010 is here you maybe after something completly different

Yeah. My opinion isn't even based on personal driving experience, just i've heard bad things about the 116 and 118 but only you'll know from test driving one - a deffinate MUST DO.

Funnily enough, I've been troughing around dealers for the past couple of weekends because the wife wants a 120D.. Bloody superb drive, love it to bits.. I was sorely tempted to get rid of the 325 'vert and have a pair of 120D's instead, but I just can't live without roof off action these days..

Totally agree on that one there. I have to say those models are not as 'fuel efficent' as made out. I had a 116i SE for a day and it did less mpg than my 135i Convertible!

Easy solution, if she wants a hatch then get her a 120d hatch and you get a 120d convertible. Simples
