    Hello people

    I’m now an owner of a 530d m sport on a 57 plate which has done 55000miles.
Was hoping for some advice and tips on what to do to the car, ie I’ve been told to scrap the DPF filter as these cause problems?, I’ve also heard of people removing the swill flaps?
    Any input would be grateful

    Simon

On a 2007 car with 55k, I wouldn't worry too much about either of those. The DPF's can cause problems in that they can clog up if the car is regularly used as a town car but otherwise should be fine.

I would check your running temperatures via the hidden menu as the thermostats are prone to failure causing them to run cold and would also check your crankcase breather filter has been changed.

Here's how to access to your hidden menu

And as to your crankcase breather filter, check your service records or check it yourself. If you're in any doubt have it changed anyway, it's not an expensive part.

Oh, and cleaning your EGR valve is another thing to have done that isn't one of BMW's service items.
