    Hello,

    I ve just picked up a 2006 535d e61.
The 100 mile ride home was comfortable and of course fast!

I have a few weeks off work and a bit of money put aside to really tidy her up.

This forum will undoubtedly be a huge help. I will look for answers before posting them (most of the time :-) )

    Immediate activities of which I am sure are very common threads;
    - x4 new tyres (non run flats)
    - x1 space saver wheel (see above)
    - fix the rear windscreen wiper.
    - x4 wheels refurbished
    - professional detail inside and out
    - front wiper blades

    Next steps :
    - remap
    - paddle shift instal
    - Bluetooth fitting

Before I do go through the full forum, if anyone has any immediate 'quicks wins' I am all ears :-)
    I am bristol based.

    Cheers all

    Cheers mate.

The 530s also an awesome car. I'm pretty sure if you are inclined they can have the power hiked up. Are you planning any tweaks,or going to leave it as Germany intended?

It's booked in tomorrow for x4 powder coated alloys/x4 new continentals (non run flats). After a fair bit of searching, I'm going to:

Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists | My Alloys Team, the people behind expert restoration of your alloy wheels.

    In bristol.

I be had it serviced and sorted out all the minor niggles.
It's then onto detailing, Bluetooth and paddle shifters!!!

I ve only had it a week and was originally going to get remapped, but to be honest, it feels pretty fats/powerful as it is.

Last couple of cars were m3/rs4, and although this one is of course different, it still feels fast enough....so big, it's like driving a boat!

I did want a 535 but got impatient and the local BMW steelers in derby had this and just went for it, part of me thinks I should of waited but patience has never been a forte lol
    Still happy tho,
The was always to remap so the 530 could catch with the 535 but I've got 12months warranty I don't wanna risk and also read some bad reports on remapping of these engines,
I've always had vag cars seat cupras etc and they've always been straight forward, what do you think???

As tempting as it must be.... If it's under warranty I would be tempted to hold fire - only my opinion.
You just know that as soon as your car mat/key fob/other completley unrelated item fails, the stealers will be linking that directly back to the engine upgrade.

    Hang in there :-)

The main reason for swapping from run flats is purely that I'm a little ol' fashioned and I like 'normal' tyres with a spare that I can change myself. nothing against run flats, just a personal preference.

As for the paddle shifts, they are there for a little fun - agreed you dont really need them (and the car will spend 95% of its time in drive), but then you don't really need a telly, DVD, toaster, kettle etc. it's all down to choice :-)

Well I've had fun n games so far with mine, test drove last Saturday bought the car same day and arranged collection for thurs, on the test the tyre pressure warning came on, the salesman said its probably because the cars been stood, and put in his prep notes for them to check tyres aswell as some paintwork, anyway on collection things were alittle rushed had to get to work, anyway checked the car quickly, had the seal and protect as we're getting a dog, there was black spray back paint splattered over the rear of the drivers side, I no they touched up the roof bars but still I'm there to collect my car and there's black splashes of paint on my white that's supposed to of had seal n protect applied???
Anyway this was hastily removed in the workshop!
So take my car n rush to work, I work nights!!
The next day I took the car into town to get afew bits and I can hear a squeeking/rubbing noise, later I showed the car to my neighbour n spot that air in my offside rear wheel looks low, took it to my mate at kwik fit n he said its got no air in, it was running on its run flat, the day before I was booting it to get to work on time!
Anyway phoned BMW they said bring the car in Saturday morning, did that for them to tell me they didn't have a spare tyre n I'd have to leave my car there for the weekend, fuming isn't the word! They new the tyre would need replacing after it'd been run 50 or 60 miles flat!
Anyway got a courtesy car 63plate 318d luxury and plenty of apologies, they've phone me today to tell me they've reprepped the car changed the tyre and as way of apology they've replaced my front discs n pads which they said had around 7-8k left on them, changed my rear pads but the discs were fine and replaced an alloy which they said wasn't 100% round??
Anyway don't think that's too bad in the end, tho was highly frustrating and annoying!!!
    Bit long winded I know,

Pics please!! I've had my 530D 2009 E60 for about a month now and I'm still loving it. Had it remapped and the difference is really noticeable, better MPG and a lot more torque.

I have the paddle shifts on mine and the above chap is right, I've used them once. They are a nice show item though. Maybe I will use them more when the ice and snow comes??
    2009 530d M-Sport, step auto, paddleshift, 19" alloys and now Remapped...Brum Brum!!
