Hello all, My names Frank, and I'm a complusive car/project buyer!!!

I can be seen alot on the PPC magazine forum, i dunno if anybody is on here from there?

    At the moment, i only have 1 BMW, that's a L-reg E36 316i, but in the past i have owned an E34 535i, that i twin turbo'd, and fitted a M3 6-speed box

My latest project, is a Lotus 7, that i'm planning to fit a 328i engine and box into, so i thought i'd join the forum to get some help and advice on tuning this engine, I'm hoping for around 250bhp out of it.

    Cheers for now, Frank.

I will, once I've bought a suitable donor car.

I'm planning to do most of the mods while it's still in the E36, before i swap the engine into the 7.

Do you know what you want to do to it to get it to the magical 250bhp figure?

I'm planning to fit 2 sets of Triumph Triple bike Thottle bodies, then, hopefully a remap.
Also, of course, a new complete exhaust system(cat not required!!)

I've been told that swapping the inlet manifold and thottle body off of a 325i, will give in the region of 220bhp, so i'm hoping that using the bike bodies and the better flowing exhaust, should get me somewhere near.

I think anything over 220bhp, is more than enough power, seeing as the car only weighs approx 550kg!!
Enviromentalists say "The petrol reserves are running out at an alarming rate!!"
So, you may as well enjoy it while we've still got it!!

Just a little bit, that's why I'm here, to learn as much as possible, on how much power i can get from this engine, without turbo's.

My last BMW (E34 535i), got treated to twin turbo's and was pushing out, approx 500bhp.

But i've not got room for tubo's in the 7(without hanging them on the outside!!), and from my research the 328i engine, is a very under-stressed engine due to it being resticted from the factory, so there's less chance of having major problems with the donor.
