    E36, '97, 328i Touring.

On one of those 'ebay, finger twitching' moments. I was looking for something boringly practical, as an everyday hack, an alternative to an '83 Porsche 924, which is a bit impractical to shove a load of kit in the back.

Something boringly sensible, 2ltr, D**s*l, Mondeo, Octavia, Estate, etc.

150k mls. Short MOT / Tax, run by a coupla builders, and ebay post said interior was shagged, but mechanics good, and body / paint, fine. The finger twitched...

It's BRILLIANT ! Few quid on steering bushes and some rubber, sorted. Just sailed through MoT.

Needs a few quid throwing at Trip Computer and air con pump / controller. But as a car thats going to be daily hack, prob doing 500+mls some weeks, there's nothing else out there I'd rather have.

...'cept the old dogs a bit thirsty. :(

Oh yeah, the 'about me' bit ...

    Wow that's gotta help!

It'll be a little while before i can afford to buy anything but fuel for my car at the moment but i'd like to put it on my shopping list

Can you provide a ball-park figure?

Considering I was being quoted £315 fully comp, business use, on a Mondeo, £350 on the bimmer was a nobrainer !

Basic 4 channel DVR, with GPS, is around £315.

Cameras...a moot point, the ones I used there are nothing special, and around £85 ea. Can get better, cheaper,...or I can get REALLY cute:

O_O that's amazing! SO much want!

I think i can beat your insurance thing though - bear in mind at time of purchase, an insurance app for me went: 24 y/o, license 4 years, 1 year's no claims, last car was a 1.25 mkIV fiesta which i insured for about £850-900 a year fully comp.

I got a quote for the 323i SE touring (below)...

    £640 a year.
I put my girlfriend on the policy = £500 a year!

As you quite rightly say, NO BRAINER!

Unless the trip comps lying in it's teeth, actually getting 33-35 on decent motorway run.

Spent 4 hours other day, getting in / out, of central london, stuck in traffic, second gear, stop start, etc, and was bloody horrific !
