I have just brought an e30 318 to add to my collection! Its an alpine white 4 door on a 1990 h plate. Interior is tidy. Started it up after six months of standing. Abit tappity and noisy was low on oil though.(sounds abit like a diesel to be honest when revving. I still brought it though!!!

    New fuel filter
Oil and oil filter on monday!
    Here are some pics
I think its an absolute bargain!

that will probably need a new camshaft and top end rebuild to quiten it down. Well done on getting an e30 though.

m40 engines suffer cam wear it's very common over 100k Obviously regular oil changes help but if its clattering it probably wants a head rebuild. they will go on for ages like this but ultimately lose performance and smoothness. The cams are quite cheap as i remeber and not too tricky to do it's not a head off job.

My mate had one of them, bought for £700 and sold at scrap value for £130..

He had the 320 though, sounded sweet for a 20 year old motor.

Very easy DIY if you have a feeler gauge.

Just make sure the engine is stone cold when you do it and work sequentially making sure you nip up each bolt properly and don't drop anything down the head.
