    .. I introduced myself!

I'm Carl, got the Nickname Menderez years ago and it kinda stuck. What can I tell ya?

I was a long-time lover of the BM brand, and always drooled over E36 M3's in my early teens. Anyway, back in 2005 (when I turned 25) I went straight out and bought an Escort Cosworth, because I could finally afford to insure one. Bear with me, this does have relevance to the story, honestly. It turned out to be a bit of a handful, not quite as much fun as I was expecting, and in the winter, the heater turned out to be about as much use as an asthmatic octegenarian blowing luke warm air into your face. Suffice to say, after 6 months, I was sick of it. So over Christmas 2005 I started shopping around for an E36 coupe, remembering how much I'd loved them in my teens. Could I find a good one? Could I buggery. Everything was 150K+ miles or chavved all to hell. Finally, I dropped on an E36 on eBay. It was a 328i SE saloon, but it looked sporty and aggressive. I couldn't put my finger on why. I went to see it, and then I understood. It was fully kitted out with AC Schnitzer extras straight from the factory. Front Splitter, Rear Diffuser, Roof Spoiler all original Schnitzer. Factory M-Tech Suspension and Rear Spoiler. Schnitzer factory tuning, and Schnitzer Lower Tie Bars and Upper Strut Braces. The car was on 87,000 miles and immaculate throughout, with every receipt from the day it was bought, including all the factory extras. The garage had no idea what they had, and offered a straight swap for my frankly quite shagged Cosworth. I drove the car home the same day, and it put the smile on my face that the Cosworth never did. I've been hooked ever since.

I sold the car a year later with much regret as I was going travelling for a few months. then in early 2008 I saw it up for sale on eBay with Halfords alloys and some godawful bodykit on it. A little bit of me died inside I've wanted another one ever since, and have even been tempted by an M3 with the SMG 'box, but when a 325 'vert came up for sale in May not too far from me, and for about half what I would've paid for it, I jumped on it like Gary Glitter at an auction for Michael Jackson's computer. The roof's hardly been up since, and I'm loving every minute. Sure there are a few niggly problems to sort out, and the leather needs a serious recolouring treatment, but there's nothing quite like a 3-Series.. And this one will last me until next year when the wife has promised me an E93 330D for my 30th

Anyways, if you've stuck with me through all of that, well done you. I'll be going along to Bimmerflex next Sunday, so I might see a few of you there.
