    Hello

Iv written a few posts on this forum about my first BMW as its doing strange things and I don't know what to do, basically within a week of buying it iv noticed it does strange things like throw up faults every now n then like fuel pump, transmission, dynamic steering, only when I go to start it, then its fine 5 mins later and they all vanish. Never happens while driving only at start up and even then only somethimes.

Diagnostic at garge said glow plugs and air flow faults which they cleared. There is also a sucking noise, like air being sucked/ejected between 1500 and 2500 rpm, loads a power though and garage said its definitely mapped and very hard.

Don't know what to do about this stuff, any suggestions, leave it to Bavarian maybe or should I find a good auto spark in Belfast? Wondering if iv bought a nightmare, apart from that the car looks and drives 100%.

Any ideas re what could be causing this stuff would be brill, can these things be fixed or are they generally a nightmare to sort?

    Stephen

Get the battery checked out as a weak battery throws all sorts of weird faults up. The battery sensor (IBS) senses a low battery and shuts off all unnecessary modules, so the computer can't read the modules and throws up a fault.

I would look at your alternator, mine was throwing up fault codes at start up sometimes. Then it started to damage the battery, I used the hidden menu to see what the alternator voltage was at start up. It sometimes was as low as 11 volts; sometimes correcting itself, sometimes just using all battery power until nothing was left and it died.

    Hope this helps
