Hi there I'm new to the site and have a problem with my 520 d 2008 I bought the car from an auction in December 2011 with 100k when I checked the history it had full regular history from BMW including a new turbo the previous month. After using the car for about a month it started loosing power and when it was turned off after use there was a hissing under the bonnet we found this to be a blocked dpf so I removed it and the car ran perfect however every couple of days/weeks it billows out dark Greyish blue smoke for about 5 mins then clears and is fine till the next time. This has become annoying can any one please help me ?.:

Did you replace the DPF or just just remove it, If you removed it did you map out the DPF function from the ECU?

Suspect it is trying to force a regen on a none existent DPF which invoices closing the thottle valve and sqirting more fuel in to induce the regen... hence the smoke

Thanks for reply. All I did was remove the dpf if it is removed from the Ecu should this stop the problem ? It's strange as sometimes it won't happen for a week. Responses greatly appreciated
