Hi at my wits end. I have a very large coolant leak and cant seem to find it. I do around 40 miles a day and seem to loose this amount. Its costing me more in coolant than derv. Its not overheating and is running fine otherwise. Any help would be very wellcome.

Feel the carpets inside, or look for excessive misting of the windows as that would point to a leak at the heater matrix, or try some UV dye and see if you can spot it in the engine bay.

if its leaking theres probably a split in the expansion tank or one of the hoses sometimes the circlips cut into the pipe over the years or if the expansion tank has a tiny split it will mark the tank look for any signs of white marks on the black plastic normally when losing coolant the engine will get hotter than normal and your oil might need to be watched too so be carefull

Yeah have felt carpets dry as a bone. The car is not overheating and can't seem to any leaks. Windows don't seem to be misting either. Thanks for your help. Will have another look at expansion tank.

I got a 2000 530Dat and have got waterleaks 3 different places. The o-rings in the hoses going through the torpedo into the heater, the engine water pump and the expansion tank. Good luck, hope you find it.

Just a wee update incase it helps anyone. I found the leak it was coming from a pipe near the webasto heater. It only was leaking when you put the heaters on. Its something to check if anyone is losing coolant.
