    Hi All,

    A big hello......... HELLO!
I think i will be spending many hours searching around the post to help me put my new project back on the road and hopefully back to its former glory....

I will be looking to try to gather as much previous history for the car a possible and wondered if there is a link on the forum to check the original factory build spec of the car. I had previously owned a Merc and found a link through there forum for imputing your Merc chassis number, it would then show you the original factory build sheet with which bits are fitted.

I also need to try to find a helpful BMW bod who would be able to check the service computer to see what BMW service history the car may have as i have currently have none! Although most bits, battery, filters all look genuine.

Last but not least any recommendations for suppliers/breakers and garages in or around Manchester.

Thanks and hope to be able to help along the way too....

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Touring member

You need www.realoem.com and enter your chassis number where it says serial number

I look forward to seeing some pictures posted up soon

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the welcomes..... And link, I will have an investigate when I get a min....
Iíve been pulling apart, cleaning (I think the previous owner kept chickens in it, no fooling!) and refitting some of the interior today and was shocked to find the N/S internal rear boot floor and part of the rear quarter has disintegrated! I havenít seen rust like since working on a Mk 1 Ford Escort, back in the day! Back then by the time you had welded up one hole another would appear!
Iím a bit gutted I missed the gaping hole when buying it but the rot was covered over by the panel that the wheel nut wrench clips into and I was probably misty eyed as I have been looking for a 328 Sport Touring project for a while.
Is this a normal weak spot on these touring versions? The rest of the car is solid and it seems odd that this one area is so badly corroded......
    Oh well.
I am now seriously going to have to consider my options as I brought the car needing a head gasket doing but donít want to get involved in body work as well....
Let me know your thoughts, are panels available for repairs, could I have brought a lemon and it might be worth breaking and moving on to a more solid Touring or do they all suffer the same problems in that corner of the boot??
    Any suggestions are appreciated.....
PS sorry Mr Moderator if this would be better in another section, please feel free to move....
