Just kidding, but I reckon most of the people here are quite proud of the BMW power plant, and wouldn't want to swap it for anything missing the little roundell. I definitely wouldn't.

Fair question regarding the Swap ideas.

Luxembourg is not like the UK when it comes to the business of MOT..

Anything out of the ordinary here and your car is permanently grounded, unless you revert back to the approved setup. In any kind of a swap I would need to get a TUeV, which is a German certification of a job well done. That costs huge amounts of money.
I did think about the S62B50 Swap, and in fact the S85B50 (V10) swap also, at the time I had an E60M5, but it sounded to expensive at the time.

The Turbo route sounded less expensive, but has in the end cost me more. I also found out later that I had to get TUeV for the Turbo system, which I did at a price..

Fair question, indeed, but I was thinking it could have concerned the swaps with other BMW V8/V10 engines, like the ones you considered.
There are only two products required to make the universe work properly: Duct tape and WD40.

If it moves (and it shouldn't): duct tape.
If it doesn’t move (and it should): WD40.

    Everything else is just stuff.

If we're all honest that motor has a limit and he's reached it twice. If he wants power you can get a ls7 with a 035 tranny for around 9k and that's 500+ hp stock. And come on guys lets be real that IS NOT a OEM car anymore. Seriously. And you can't beat the growl of a LSx.

I re-read this post and it seemed kind of mean, which I don't want it to. IMHO I'm merely suggesting that yes, this car is amazing. But at the same time, obviously this guy wants power and doesn't seem to mind going a non-oem route. I read that OP has stated swaps are out the question, which is a shame. In which case I can see why he's stayed with that power plant. Swaps are the way forward you get the car you want, with the engine you want. What more could you ask for?

I used to have a bit more free cash to throw at the car.. unfortunatly not today.

A swap sounds like the easy way to go, but there are many swaps out there and not all are reliable, and not all would fit through the tight funnel of yearly inspections over here.

The motor had about 1000hp capabilities (bottom end) but that all depends on the tune. Something went wrong while tuning (I believe) but we will find out this weekend when the motor will be opened.
